I've often wondered the same thing, would have to see one under construction to really know.
Given that the bus version would have to pass numerous tests for occupant safety after assembly there might be modifications in the door area not easily undone. Fender should be easy enough.
It would be helpful to see images of what you're talking about, unless this is just a general question.
