i need a set of frame perches for a 2wd 300 six cyl. truck. putting a 300 in place of the 390 in my 74 crew cab and the perches are too tall and to far rearward. i moved them to the next set of holes forward but the mount bolts still hit in front of the perches. i would get out the welder and add on to the front side of them because that would be easy enough to do but they seem a little to tall as well and shortening them would kinda suck. im not sure of why there is a difference because iv done this same swap on a 77 4x4 and all i had to do was move the perches forward to the next set of holes and they worked just fine.
i have the mounts for the 300 and moved the perches forward already and i still cant get back far enough. i read that all the older crew cabs had the narrow frame like the high boys, would that make i difference on my perches? i thought moving them was all i had to do as well because iv done this swap before with no problems at all.
me neither, iv changed motors in so many 73 to 79 fords that i forgot which was which anymore but i really dont remember having this problem on any other trucks.
