I am trying to decode the axle code from my build plate. The code is 16A. I have been unable to decipher the code. I need to know what axles I have front and rear. Can you guys help??
Steven, is this a 78/79 Bronco? If so, the "16" denotes a Ford 9" rear diff with 3.50 open gears. The "A" denotes a 3750# load capacity. The front will be a Dana 44 with the same (3.50 open) gears.
Finally, someone realized it is not a name, but a description of the Bronco. When I reregister the vehicle in Sep. the NH plate will read the same as my user name on FTE. Other than that small bit of trivia, thanks to all who have helped me decode my build plate.
