I need some information on how to diagnose my brakes. When I step on the pedal, the truck stops good but the pedal has to be pryed back up. Does this mean the master cylinder is going bad? Also, is there a place where I can a new master cylinder but with two pistons for safety?
One place I know of that sells dual-piston master cylinders is http://www.mpbrakes.com/ -- also try a search of FTE as I seem to remember this topic discussed before.
Also check out ecihotrodbrakes.com for a relatively cheap front disk brake conversion.
As for your immediate problem, it sounds like the return spring, or maybe the bushing between the brake pedal and push rod is too tight. If the brake fluid is also disappearing, check for leaks.
As usual I can always count on my fellow FORD Truck followers, to help me out of a stopping situation. :-) Thanks a lot guys for the information...now should I get a roll pan or a bumper for the front/rear ends????? Decisions, decisions, decisions.....That is why the project is NEVER finished....
okay....i think the roll pan does give you a cleaner look but the chrome gives you that extra nice touch to accent chrome bezels, parking lamps, taillights and chains (if you have them like me)....think i will go with the roll pans all the way around..if i dont like it....EBAYMOTORS.com....
