I'm new here, I now own the old family heirloom : a 1970 f-100 4x4 I have read some of the threads here and you all seem to be a good bunch w/ lots of info on these old trucks. I look forward to sharing my work on resurecting the old dinosaur.
Look forward to seeing some pics and hearing about the old beast. One of our members, fastmover, has a '70 F250 4X4 that his dad bought new and which has recently come into his hands. He's doing a lot of work on it, restoring it with a few updates and modifications. It's nice when these old trucks get handed down and stay in the family.

Welcome aboard. As TigerDan mentioned above, I have a '70 F250 4X4 Highboy that my family got new (I was a 1 year old). It is great to hear that you are "resurrecting" your old "dinosaur" too.
FTE is a great tool and resource for helping us restore these great trucks. I recommend you use this forum and the specific forum for your engine type. My truck has a FE 390, so I am in that forum a lot. I also use the body and paint forum a lot. My favorite forum is the Northern California Chapter of FTE. Your state/regional chapter forum can help you find local resources (shops, salvage yards, etc.) that you will need as you work on your truck.
Please post photos of it and keep us up to date. Here is a photo of my '70 during its last winter in Montana.
I do have a couple of pics in my gallery, they are not very good ones but I will have more to add soon, I haven't figured out how to add a pic in the thread. My Dad bought mine when I was born, so I grew up with some fond memories with it. He then later sold it to my uncle who drove it like a grandpa which saved the drivetrain but the body has some rust issues that I'm going to be focusing my attention to this summer.
Welcome! You will learn a lot from all here. My truck started out as a 1970 F250 2wd. It is in the process of getting put on a 1979 4X4 chassis. I bought mine from my brother. And mine is green too just a darker green. 1970 seems to be a popular year. I need to get pictures in my gallery but haven't gotten to it yet. Here is a link to what I have; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...-4x4-frame.html
Mine is also a '70. My grandfather bought it new, around 1984 ish he gave it to my father, and in '03 my father handed it down to me. I haven't done to much work to the old girl lately, but this summer I have a lot of plans for it, I have my first son on the way and hope I can hand it down to him someday.

Great plan! I have two little boys and want to do the same...

Your link brings up page not found. I think there is no better way to bring a family together better than an old car or truck. You all have some great stories.
A little more about mine, This truck I have was bought when I was born or shortly after, so I grew up with it. The way my dad customized it with the lights, new paint, wheels and the duel exhaust that dumped out in front of the rear axle just had me in awe as a kid, It really looked and sounded like it was gonna come after ya. The memories of tracking through the mountains and desert of so. cal. will stay with me forever, and I really hope that is something to pass on to my boy. My son is the one who named it the green dinosaur truck so I felt the name befitting.
Hi All, Well I finally was able to get some updated pictures of my project.
This pic is of the "new" dashpad that I bought off of Ebay. It came from a 1970 F250 camper. No cracks! It had a couple small spots on the side of glue or something. Not really noticeable, will work for me. The steering wheel was from an 80" van also. Fits nice on the 79 column. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...ictures131.jpg
Pic of the "new" grille that also came from the 70 camper. Excellent shape! I deliver parts to a metal finishing company. I can take it to them and they said they will strip it for free! They will make it look like new. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e9...ictures118.jpg
I did get busy and install a cargo light today. Not too bad of a job. Hope you enjoyed the "tour"!
