The truck will do a regen every 5-600 miles whether it needs it or not. I saw 2 regens last week while towing, one time the soot was at 1.2 and it regened down to .85. If you don't use something like an Edge CTS Insight you don't know how other you are actually in an active regen.

Remember that the truck will display "Drive to clean" when too many active regenerations have been cancelled.
When that occurs, you should hit the highway and drive as instructed.
Otherwise, the truck will take care of itself.
If you don't notice AR's, I think that was what Ford wanted with regeneration 2.0.
I prefer to complete AR's as much as possible so that's why I choose to monitor it.
It's an aftermarket OBDII monitor that's about the size of a GPS.
It allows you to monitor temperatures, DPF load, etc. and can check codes if that ever is a need.
If you like information, the device can provide plenty.

I'm using BAFX OBD2 recommended by another FTE member. There are others but this one works well. The Torque Pro app is not plugnplay for our truck though. Most of the pre installed PID's don't work with the 6.7. There's another thread on the forum, Torque pro PID's, that MPD56 has posted a bunch of PID's that work well. But you have to type them in manually. If your a little tech savvy its not to much of a problem.

You may have been interrupting the regen cycles prior to completion, although I've repeatedly witnessed as little as 45 miles between regens under driving conditions that won't allow exhaust gas temps at the DPF to get much over 300 degrees.

That would be me. City driving, barely over 40 mph and then stop and go traffic which is horrible for soot production. I think the truck knows it too - even on the highway right now I am only going 150 miles between regens...
Driving it 5200 miles or so to Alaska loaded up so I will see if the distance between regens increases.

Had my first active regen in a while saturday on my way north, message popped up on the screen just after I got back on the interstate after refueling. Had zero'd out the fuel economy readout and was back up to 17.0 when the message popped up. Of course the numbers started dropping immediately, went down to 13.6 before the regen was finished and then started climbing again. Went 18 miles during the regen cycle, but took 26 miles to get back to the 17 mpg point where the regen started. All this with the cruise set at 74.
Put 2250 miles on it since leaving saturday morning, only that one active regen.
