68' Crewcab

68' Crewcab
I just got a 1968 crewcab a few months ago. The bed on this truck is a shortbox stepside. Nothing too special about the truck....but I have a question. EVERY window in the truck has etched glass. Does anyone know if Ford did this from the factory or was this a personal touch? I am going to assume that it is a personal touch as it was a ex- air force truck. But seriously every window including the wing windows are etched with roses, revolvers, cowboy hats, and the ford emblem. I do not have any pictures at this time but will have some before the night is over as I have to go back out to my yard anyway.
My future plans for this truck are stretching a 1987 F250 4X4 frame and putting the 68 crew cab body with another long box step side box I have so It would a 68 crew cab long box stepside 4X4 and I could get the smoother ride. I already have a built 460 out of a jetboat and a few ZF5 tranny's to put behind them.

Thanks
Thanks for the welcome. I am brand new to FTE but not new to Fords. I have had:
4X 1989 Broncos
1X 1970 F250 2X4
1X 1977 F150 4X4
2X 1987 F250 4X4
I am sure there are more that I am forgetting
I currently have:
1993 F350 crewcab 4X4 SRW flatbed with 460 and ZF 5 speed (daily driver)
1978 Bronco had 400M with 4spd now has 300I6 with 4 speed (mountain toy)
1978 Bronco with 400M and a C6 (parts rig)
1979 F250 4X4 supercab (parts rig)
1973 F100 4X4 shortbox (mudder project)
1996 F250 4X4 regular cab long box with 7.3 and ZF 5 speed. (parts rig)
1989 Bronco 302 and 4 speed manual (wifes toy)
1976 F350 2X4 dually 390 4 spd.(parts rig)
1987 F250 4X4 ext. cab long box (parts rig)
1985 F350 2X4 crew cab long box SRW (parts rig)
1968 2X4 crew cab short box step side (soon to be 4X4 long box step side)
Too many toys and projects and not enough time.

This is my old 87 F250 4X4. Long gone but was a good truck.
This is my toy 1978 bronco...I am finishing up the swap with a 300 I6 in it. Some idiot used it to house his live rabbits and has all new interior.
My parts 78 Bronco with a old F350 I had (1970 I think).
This is a 1977 F150 I had that I sold a while back.
When I was in North Carolina this was my daily driver. I blew the rear end and was unable to bring it back home to Idaho. 1978 F100 4X4. 351M was a C6 but converted to T19 4spd in barracks parking lot.
This is my 93 F350 daily driver. 460, ZF5 4X4 SRW (looking for a dually rear) this is before I built the stacks and 12K winch on the bumper......On trailer is my 1978 F600 wrecker. lost wheel bearings and had to trailer it home. Will be fixed and hauling chevy's to the scrapper in to time so they can come back to life as a Ford.

Best thing about a chevy is that it can be melted down and made into a Ford.
another frontal pic of my 93 F350 daily driver.

My 78 Bronco and the engine donor truck. 1985 F250 4X4.
1978 Bronco with the new/used interior.
1978 Bronco side view.
1987 F250 4X4...donor frame and running gear to build the 68 crewcab long box stepside.
My wifes toy...1987 Bronco with 302 and 4 spd manual.
Basically all that's left of my 85/86 F350 crew cab 2X4
1978 F600 getting wheel bearings fixed. Then comes the orange and black paint with my stickers.
This 79 supercab and frame are all that are left. This is the donor for when I start building my 78 crew with super cab behind it ultimately will be:

1978 super crew F350 4X4 dually flatbed with ZF6 and a 12V cummins
This is how my 68 crew cab looks currently.
Some of the 68 crew window etchings.

Land is for sale everywhere around here so if you wanted to come to Idaho you could be my neighbor. Maybe not right next door but close. lol.
One of the PO's could have been. I don't know much of the story on the truck other than it was ex Air Force and another guy I somewhat know and then a buddy of mine that did absolutely nothing with it and only had it a few years and then me for a few months.
