Quick question about carbon monoxide
Just went down and had the truck smogged. It did very well except on Idle carbon monoxide.
I drove it in set just as it is every day. I have the idle a little bit on the rich side so it starts easy. Which is why I think it failed.
So if I lean it out a little, and turn the idle speed up a bit, that should solve the problem correct?

Having your air/fuel jets in to make it run richer, you say it makes it start easier.Well what ever works for you. So why didn't you reset those jets.?
You got a start listening to your inner voices that flash through your head more often.
Hook up your vacuum gauge and retune it. Engine should be warmed up good. 180*-195*thermostat should get you by. Also a clean air filter..

Yea, I could have tuned it prior, but I wanted to see what I was at with my normal settings. It was actually pretty good. Just not quite good enough... I get 2 tries for each test, so I'm still good. This is the first time sniffing this engine, so I wasn't quite sure what it was doing.
I'm confident that I already fixed the problem. I leaned the screws out 1/4 turn each and increased the idle speed to about 800rpm. I'm going to go again first thing in the morning and try again.

I've heard of guys adding some alcohol or acetone and even MEK to try to pass.
I don't know if that got them to pass tho.
I use MEK mix with some high octane gas back in 60's in my racing days.
Good stuff if you mix it right!
