400M

Am I understanding that the 400M has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 460?

Does this mean that an AOD will bolt up to a 400M?

No such thing as a 400M, it's just plain 'ol 400.

AOD was never offered with 351M/400 or 460.

460 was not available w/a M/T until 1983, F250/350 only and all 1983/97 F250/350 460's have a hydraulic clutch.

The 351M and 400 are johnny-come-latelys to the 335 series of Ford engines. (The 351C was the first, and for a while the 335 series was called "a family of one.)
Both the 351M and the 400 share the same bell housing bolt pattern of the 385s, which includes 370 (truck engine), 429 and 460.
