I have 1 79 F-150 2wd and I am in the process of rebuilding the front suspension.
I have torn apart the current front suspension and I have new radius arm bushings.
The old bushings are slightly different than the new bushings in construction and height. I wanted to ask if there is only one design for these trucks and if these bushings are supposed to "crush" during installation as well....

Bushings are year-specific (for whatever reason). If it's spec'ed for your year then follow the instructions.. The RA nuts also have a torque value.
I got a pair from LMC and they are listed as 73-79 but they were not like the bushings I pulled off the truck. Found some at advance that are a like the one i pulled off and I am waiting for them to arrive.
The one that came off have the spud disc with integral sleeve and then a spud disc at the other end with recess.... The LMC bushings are two spuds with short sleeves, essentiall the same front and rear of the bracket.
Wanted to see if anybody has used the universal style with success...
I am guessing the brackets make a difference and they are the ones with the two welded discs/pucks front and rear...
