Ok this is probably a stupid question but here it goes........Where is the VIN number aluminum tab located on a 1968 F250? The shop manual volume one says that it is riveted to the instrument panel close to the windshield on the passenger side and will be visible from outside. I have looked and still can't find it. Any input would be helpful and I am making an appointment with the Optometrist. Thanks.

Reason: spelling
I know the F100s had it on a plate on the drivers door and on the top of the frame on passenger side in the engine compartment. I would think the 250's would be he same.
I found the VIN number.....F25HRC*****. It was on the driver side door but had a different aluminum tab than in the shop manual and was listed as warranty number. a lot smaller number than there is today. Thanks for the help.
Where is the VIN number aluminum tab (VIN plate) located on a 1968 F250? None!
The shop manual volume one says that it is riveted to the instrument panel close to the windshield on the passenger side and will be visible from outside.
No such thing on any truck until 1980.
Passenger Cars were required to have a VIN plate located on the left side of the dash, visible thru the windshield beginning in 1968, but no truck, Bronco or Econoline has any such thing until 1980.
Warranty Plate located on the left door face below the latch. VIN on Warranty Plate known as Warranty number.
FoMoCo says it's not for title or registration purposes as it's too EZ to change. The usual reason:
People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they failed to install the original Warranty Plates on the replaced doors.
