This is the first public event we have taken part in with our 1953 F250. We just recently jumped thru all the hoops to get registration papers and insurance. Lots of projects yet to do but at least it is driveable! May not always start as we found out today at the end of the parade. I don't know if it was the extended idling and hot weather but the battery played dead after the parade was over and we were ready to go home. A little jump start from my son-in-law and we were on our way.
Small glitch in an otherwise very fun morning!
Thanks Folks, Over the last year of rebuild I have gained a ton of information by reading this Forums posts. It has been invaluable. In taking on this project I was unsure I would even enjoy driving this old technology truck but it turns out because it is so different than modern vehicles I get a big Kick out of the way it handles and drives. The tires are bias ply and old so an upgrade to radial tires would make a significant improvement I am told. But for around town travels the truck is proving totally workable.
I hope lots of you get your trucks out for your July 4th celebrations and will post some photos!
