TS Performance MP-8

Diesel Performance Specialists

Ever hear of it?

I got this reply to an inquiry.

We offer the MP8 for the 6.7L Ford. We can gain you 75HP at the rear wheels and 2-3MPG. The MP8 connects to the fuel pressure sensor under the hood then the module mounts in the engine compartment. It is a quick and easy install and once it is removed, you can not detect it was ever installed.

I'm not interested in the horsepower boost. But I sure would like the mileage boost.

I would be skeptical of the mileage gains since you still would need the occasional regen on the DPF. My Tech Services manager has an economy tune on the Mini-Max in his truck and it still only got him 1 mpg with DPF on.

So the most it can do is fool the computer into thinking the fuel pressure isn't what it really is. Not sure how this gains 100hp. Maybe same idea as the units that hook to the electronic throttle and give you power gains when the actually just change the throttle ratio so you think you get gains as you don't have to push as far for max power.

This thing sounds too good to be true, fully deleted trucks don't even get that mpg. And there must be some sort of tune to get the extra power? How could it be undetectable?

I wouldn't put much faith in the MP-8 for the 6.7. 5.9 Cummins guys have used it in conjunction with the Smarty for years with great success, but given the fact that TS doesn't even list the 6.7 Powerstroke on their website anymore, I am skeptical at best.

Innovative Diesel offers the Torque 2 which is the same sort of fuel box but it taps into the transmission signal as well. I have heard the Torque 2 delivers up to 100 rwhp. I'm not skeptical of the HP gains, just skeptical that the MP-8 was working out for the 6.7 since its manufacturer quit advertising it.

...."fully deleted trucks don't even get that mpg" ....
Uhhh, well I hate to disagree with youy but I certainly do. If I use all the extra power I still get just as good as I did from the factory. I've had mine for almost 2 years now.

For that other device, if you're not telling the computer something new the pressure isn't going to help. Higher pressure "MAY" atomize the fuel more and therefore burn more complete, then helping mpg, call me skeptical.
If you could get more fuel forced into the cylinder, somewhere in the EGR or DPF the truck would know if there's more fuel and then back off the injector timing I presume. Without a tuner telling the truck to force more air, and allow it to build more boost, I can't see it.

Oops, my bad, I though I read the claim as being 4 mpg better, . ya 2-3 with a fully deleted truck is possible....2ish better is what I seen.

I would have disagreed with me as well...

I have wondered about these boxes as well I would rather have better throttle response and better or quicker trans shifts than more power. Sure more power and fuel gains are good but better throttle response and trans shifting make for a smoother operating truck.

Hey 2nd Stroke, I too have the gold letters on my tail gate, but mine is a white and gold truck .... still looks better than stock. I don't know why Ford doesn't do it or even offer it.

What, if any, muffler have you installed?
I have the 6" chrome tip with the 5" pipe, and I have installed a Flowmaster Hushpower muffler; which I am less than impressed as I still get the "scrowl" sound (screech and howl). Under power and running it is unbelievably great sounding though.

I'm really liking the letters, glad I did it. Really "pops"

I'm straight piped, I must be the odd guy cause I love the screech, lol. Especially when people give themselves whiplash too see what the heck is making that sound when I drive by and she starts screeching, haha.
