Thought the numbers equal on both sides was weird. Didn't happen til I cleaned the MAF. Trying to figure out if it is pump I did install a new one last year also a new fuel filter a month ago. New COP and plugs. problem has been happening since before installing the new stuff other than pump. I did discover an exhaust leak. Gonna try a smoke test to make sure I never missed something but got alot on the go.. Any help would be appreciated..
did you just spray it or did you use something to clean it? Mine kept throwing the 171/174 code and I did everything I could (checked all vac lines, cleaned MAF with MAF cleaner ect). Brought it back to the guy that did my engine install and he cleaned the MAF and used a q-tip with mos of the cotton taken off to carefully clean the MAF wires with the q-tip and MAF cleaner.
That was 2 months ago and no problems since. You just have to be very careful since the wires are delicate.
I have a delicate brush for cleaning electronics that I can use but I never wanted to touch the wires. I cleaned only with the aerosol solution. I am waiting for a new assembly and I am gonna try and purchase an MAF from a scrap yard to see if there is any difference..
Brushed and cleaned, works like a charm.. Got it on some 285's now and waiting for my headers to get here... Thanks alot for the info, sometimes just spraying the MAF sensor isn't enough. I have a new one on the way also but thanks again.. No error codes and got my missing power back..
Check the air filter can for a sloppy large rubber grommet on the bottom side for the IAT/MAF Sensor wires. It's in the right place for an air leak that can throw off the air/fuel mix to cause a lean condition. Mine fell out when I was changing the air filter.
