I know there was a thread on cleaning the MAF, but I cannot seem to find it. I would liik in my Haynes Manuel but it is packed away because we are selling the house and it is "designed to sell" so all my junk is in storage. So anyway can someone give me the guildelines for cleaning the MAF I don't want to screw it up.
PS what happened to the FAQ that used to be at the top of the page?? Or am I dreaming that it was there??
I was looking for the FAQ sticky a few days ago too, maybe Racerguy is updating it or something. If I remember correctly, the instructions were to be sure the engine was cool, spray the MAF lightly with electrical cleaner (some use throttle body cleaner I think) and the main thing was not to touch the wires with q-tips or anthing like that.
I have the threads about the MAF however I never realized how "important" it was. Although the link was how to clean the MAF, it did also help me to understand what in fact the MAF was there for. Looks like I might be cleaning mine in the very near future.
My question; If I add a K&N FIPK kit, do I need to "adjust" the MAF in any way to accept the new filter system? Will the K&N help to keep the MAF from getting as dirty?
I have a K&N FIPK on my truck and there was no adjustment needed. it will need to be cleaned MORE from the oil on the filter (so I am told) Just use a light amount of oil when doing the filter clean to protect the electronics

how do you like the kn FIPK? does it give you better gas milage and more power? were the sensors easy to hook up? I am thinking of getting one.
Lance
It did increase power some but saw no real mileage out of it. When I added the Flowmaster 40 my mileage decreases by 2 MPG I am still trying to figure that one out.
Thanks for the answer. I put one on a Subaru I had and there was definatly more power, but not really improved gs milage, cool sound though.
guess I will stay with the original equipment.
Original equipment!!! Smart move. Took me 4 years to get back to my original factory intake cause I refused to think I was sucked in by the hype. Now my truck runs better than it did with the AirRaid and K&N filter plus no more fuss with cleaning, oiling, MAF sensor, whistling at idle.
