Swap rear-ends

I have a 2001 F550 7.3 PSD with a Western Hauler interior and Western Hauler bed. I do not need the extra capacity and I am wanting to change to a smaller wheel/larger tire combo to increase my mud / AT tire selection. Can I just change wheels or will I also need to change rear-ends and front breaks assembly's to a F350? Or would it be better to just sell this one a get a F350 4X4 with a Western hauler bed. My 7.3 has 213,000 on the clock and runs like a top!

Thanks in advance for everyone input.

If the only reason for doing this is to get a different tire, then just change wheels. If you're trying to lower the rpm's and ditch the 4.88 rear end, then look at getting new gears installed.

I second Chris on this. You know the history of this vehicle better than anything you buy. The cost of different gears or wheels/tires would be justified to make the truck what you want. Also, those miles are highway, unlike many f-350's with in-town or suburbs. Why not store the old parts for when you do decide to sell the vehicle? Larry
