well i think my switch is starting to go bad. first time it went it really went, luck i was near a ford dealer, bought one and didnt fit, gave them my original and they told me it was for a 89 instead of a 90, anyway all was good. now it starting to switch hard, like it might be ready to break again. the numbers i have on it are = E7TB-9A050-AC, i can find a lot of them but the numbers are = E7TZ-9A050-AC, so they have a Z in place of the B. they look the same. cant find the = E7TB-9A050-AC
The one with the "B" is a drawing number. The number with the "Z" is a part number.
Ford never puts the part number on a part as the part number can change. I would guess that is what you want as it has a 1987 (E7) truck ("T") part number.
The drawing number can apply to other part numbers as well and they would have different applications.
still having a problem with this switch, getting it. as you can see in the picture it has a inside indentation for the plug. all the ones i find dont have that, they are smooth inside with no indentation for the plug. went thought this before with the first one that went out, ford gsve me one and it wouldnt let me plug into it, they said the one in my truck was for a 89. cant post any pics.
if you look at the pictures you have youll see a alignment slot in one side, third jpg. pic, the ones on ebay dont have that. thats the problem im having. my male plug has the protrusion for that slot, therefore it wont plug into the ebay one. thats the same problem i had when my first switch broke, lucky i was at a ford dealer and he looked at the numbers on the switch and told me it was for a 89. all i know is he then gave me the right one, the second time, and its worked until now. now i might be able to ground down that alignment piece so it will plug into it but should be able to find the original type.
well this is nuts. i have found a couple of fuel tank switches exactly like mine, same part number and the alignment slot inside, but they were used and sold. i do remember that the male plug also plugged into the harness behind the dash, maybe ill need to find that section for one without the alignment section it so i can use these other type of switches. i did buy the right one form ford years ago but now cant find it.
well ford ordered one. said if was the right one they were expect me to buy it. IT WAS, unbelievable, everyone i found on line with the same part number didnt have the slot on the inside that would accept my plug, but this one did. now im good for another 95000 miles.
