Picked up a bumper the other day from a 83 k5 blazer for my 78 f250 . I knew it wouldn't fit but I couldn't pass up 100 bucks. Any idea how I can rig up something to make it fit? The mounts on it are 5 inches to narrow (2.5 on each side)

Yup. Get out the welder and grinder and have at it. Btw nice bumpers from newer Fords (through 96 or 98 if HD) can be had for $50 and will bolt right on if you trim the wrap around tips on each end. I threw one away a while back cause I couldn't give it away. That thing was mint.
Slice a cross section of your old bumper frame width with mounting holes with a chop box and weld it in the inside of your new bumper .. Keep it cool while welding it with wet rags so you don't distort or discolor the chrome .. Drill mounting holes to match and then grind them square so they will accept the carriage bolt mounting hardware ..
