I have read several post on this but still have questions.
I have a 99 f250
My dome light stays on. My door ajar does not come on. not at all.
I sprayed the door latch with PB blaster. I even replaced the dome light relay.
I tried to unplug the switch in the door. I must have unplugged the locks becomes it did not make any difference either.
I am going to try to spray them with WD40 tonight and see if that helps.
any ideas?
I know it's Captain Obvious time, but I have to ask if you checked to make sure the gauge light brightness rheostat was not turned up all the way, which turns on the dome light?
Sounds like a short, or maybe a bare wire somewhere, if that makes any sense. Is the load light on also or just the dome light in the cab? Does the truck have the 2 lights beside the overhead console, and are they on?
Well, the reason I asked was that if you had those lights and they weren't burning also, you could at least narrow it down to the dome light assembly itself. Does the truck have a cargo light? I would assume so, does it stay on also?
I feel your pain, small issues like this can be a real PITA, I would also pull and inspect the dome assembly and put a meter on the wires behind it, it could be moisture, broken wire, etc. Good luck, let us know what you find.
I have another question on this. My dome light will also NOT turn off when I cycle the key or start up the pickup.
Does this mean anything? Probably not but I though I would ask.
