64 turn signal switch

64 turn signal switch
Hiya,
Everyone keeps telling me that the turn signal switch for my 64 2wd F100 is different and impossible to find. Well, impossible to find is true. But how different is it? Would another year's switch fit and work, but it just won't cancel? If so, I wouldn't mind that so much. At least I wouldn't have an after market switch strapped to my steering column (not that there's anything wrong with that, to quote seinfeld).
