E-150 Tire Selection - Tread Pattern
I'm going to replace the Goodyear Wrangler tires I've been running on my E-150 (Avenger Elk Conversion). I've heard that the suspension of these vehicles makes them hard on certain tire tread patterns, but I haven't been able to get details, except for my experience, which has been that these Goodyears are wearing out fast.
Suggestions on a better match of tire/tread pattern for the E-150?
Thanks,
Joe

Yes their up front cost seems high but a set I bought new in '08 now has just at 65K + miles on them, a mere 1/4" of tread wear---that's impressive as its 75% of new tread depth. Age alone will necessitate this sets replacement at some point.
I'm not aware an E-Series chassis or suspension is hard on any one tire, assuming alignment is correct and we're not over loading them. I run close enough to my max GVWR of 8,600# as a daily driver/work van yet as mentioned there's no excessive tire wear.
If your E150 conversion is of the later year when the chassis & suspension were essentially E250 specs P-rated tires might be at the root of excessive tire wear. Of course proper maintenance including monitoring of tire pressure also helps tire life.
Along with checking front end alignment I'd weigh this E150 to get a base line for choosing the best load range for your van.
Long story short Michelin are great tires---buy 'em!
