Quick background, Truck is a 8/99 200k on the clock engine is from an 02 installed 50000 miles ago has about 100k on it now.

I'm working on this truck for a friend chasing a low power issue absolutely gutless is more like it. previous owner which both me and my friend know very well had installed a complete engine from an 02 and just drove it that way.

Well in my trouble shooting the ICP sensor was bad and replaced which helped some but not really, also replaced the EBV to be proactive and it was partially plugged also cleaned the tube best I could was able to blow shop air through it.

Still at WOT maybe 11psi of boost a rigged up temporary gauge, truck has no gauges . Unplug waste gate get about 20 some but still same low end characteristics.

Ok so I've convinced myself the engine is mechanically sound, so I do something probably dumb but I had to prove it to my self.

I pulled the ECM a remand VDH5 from my personal truck an 03 with DP tuner and installed into this e99, both auto's. WOW!! night and day even in stock setting drives great, power is great, shifts are VERY much improved.

Only issue I had was with my ecm the water in fuel light stayed on, now that may just be coincidence as I did not reinstall old ecm to verify.

Ok so what do I do??? find a late model ecm and run it? Or do I have a chip burned for the older xle4 ecm? How about haveing the xle4 reflashed??

This is a work truck only looking for a bump in power over where it should be. Everything is currently stock but do have plans for 4" exhaust, has factory down pipe to set a stacks (which gotta go) and intake whether it's chiped or not.
