I am in the process of replacing some of the steering parts and have run into a problem that I hope someone can help me with. My truck is a 1961 F100 two wheel drive flareside.
I purchased new tie rod ends and the steering drag link. The old parts came off surprisingly well. I installed the tie rod ends into the connecting rod link and put the assembly back on the truck. When I turn the wheels to full lock in both directions the connecting rod hits the front axle. The rod has bends in it and I can't find a picture that shows whether the rod should be straight or bent. The wheels are not toed in so I believe the rod is not supposed to be straight. I tried to keep track of everything before disassembly and was sure that the bends were facing the front of the truck. If I put the rod on the other way (which I haven't done yet) I think everything will fit and work correctly. I would like to make sure I have it put together correctly.
I'm sorry if I'm using the wrong terminology for some of the parts but I am used to working on motorcycles and not old trucks.

Bill, thank you for the quick reply. I couldn't find a good illustration that showed the entire length of the part. First off, what is the correct name for the part in question? Is it an easy to find part? I've been searching a little and haven't had the best of luck.
There are bends on my part about a foot from both ends that are pretty symmetrical so I wasn't sure if it was that way on purpose. The wheels were straight and the tie rod ends only have about an inch of threads showing so I didn't think it started out straight.
