I recently bought a antenna amplifier for my 82 F150, hope to get a better signal out of 97.1, but anyways I hate to take the risk of causing damage to the capacitor tube by cutting and soldier a new terminal end on it.
So below is a couple photos of the terminal end, could anyone help in identifying this type of connector so I can locate the plastic housing for it along with the male end for creating the rest of the circuit?
I would not worry about it. Cut it and butt splice it. It will be ok as long as it's in a dry place.
You could solder it too. Not sure what you are talking about when you mention damaging a capacitor. It's far enough away from anything to not cause any damage from the heat of the soldering operation.
One could also use a very small of Vice Grip's or similar uninsulated pliers loosely attached just being the solder connection as a heat sink---those work very effectively in delicate situations. Radio Shack sells a whole kit with things like this but pliers work just as well, maybe better---bigger mass to absorb the heat.
