comp sytem building.

i got a 94 aerostar from my dads car lot about two months ago. and i want to build a compitition sound system in this cuase its got so much room and its boxy shape is like a big sound resonator. im looking for tips on how to build a show stopping system for this van. im looking to spend about 500 bucks and can get all the stuff for cheap through a freind of my brothers so i can get 1000 dollars woth of stuff for that much. and i want to stick with twelves becuase i listen to more death metal than rap. i have a pionner 180 watt cd player in it now and some pioneer dual cone speakers installed under the first bench in some stand alone boxes. what i need to know is what kind of amp and speaker combos and number of speakers, wattages, and thing like that. hope you guys can help. want to show up everyone in my town cuase they all think they can build a sytem from walmart stuff.

Dont knoch walmart yet. They have good prices on amp kits and speaker wire plus you can get any other odds and ends you will need. What name brand of audio car you get from your sorce for half off? With the van you can definatly go with a huge ported box and one or even two 15" subs. It will be real hard to build a show stopping system with $1000 worth of equipment. Not saying its not enough for a good sounding system but show stopping is something else.

For $1000, you can put together a great system, but not a competition worthy system. What exactly are you looking for? A sound quality setup that can get kind of loud, a spl setup that has decent sound quality, or a setup that gets pretty loud and sounds pretty good, but doesn't get crazy with either? Are you looking at a complete system, or just some subs...or just some nicer front speakers with an amp? A $1000 budget will buy some nice stuff, considering the HU is already taken care of. Since you're question was kind of vague, with regards to exactly what you're looking for, let us know EXACTLY what you expect out of this system, and what you're looking for, hardware wise.
