I've been having issues the past few days with starting the truck. Plenty of voltage ,but I'll hear this rapid clicking when I turn it over as if there's a short some where, and it won't start. I've gone through and not found anything obvious. Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Could it be a starter solenoid?
A lot of guys just pound with a hammer on the top of the terminals with out opening them far enough to seat down on the battery post all the way.
The top part of lead these lead post terminals sometimes get folded over, and only 1/2 way on but this makes the terminals look like it tight.
If this is what yours look like then remove terminals and trim back the smashed over lead flashing from the upper part of the terminals. And clean as OP says or replace as needed.
Also check rear engine to body ground wire is good as these get over looked, or left off when a engine swap have ever been doing.
If theirs a lot whitish acid on terminals replace or clean with baking soda & water mixture to neutralize any acids on or around battery and base battery bracket.
Looks as though it was a grounding issue. Cleaned up entire ground system, replaced connectors and hardware. It started right up. I appreciate all the tips. Thanks guys.
