towing while lifted

What are you guys thought on towing with a lifted truck. If its something like a 4in lift would it be that bad?

Depends on how its lifted as to the severity of the change in how the truck handles and such. 1/2 tons are much more noticeable than the larger trucks and weight towed also makes a huge impact on handling. Load leveling/stabilizing hitches help, but truck will definitely wander a lot more. That's why its frowned upon so much because it can be dangerous for everybody out on the road, not just yourself, and lots of people don't take that into consideration. My $.02

Towing with a 4 inch lift is no big deal. My truck in my signature is lifted 4 inches. My last Ford crew was lifted 4 inches I tow all the time. My last truck was a lifted 2003 Chevy 2500HD Crew Short bed lifted 12-10 and I towed with it. High winds made it a little more challenging. keep in mind these have all been 3/4 or 1 ton trucks.
What truck are you planning on towing with.

Your apparently new sig says "1992 F150, 4.9l, E4OD,3.08" if that's the case a 4" lift is the least of your worries when towing.

yeah I already know what you guys are getting at. those gears will be swapped out. I mainly asked that question because Im noticing alot more people towing with tall trucks. Around where I live majority of the trucks are lifted 6in or higher and some seem ok with an adjustable ball mount, but others seem like the front tires are going to come off the ground.

The ones with the tires coming off the ground are probably 1/2 tons with too much tongue weight.

Yeah it's about spring rates and wheelbase as a ratio of draw length. Rear axle-ball/wheelbase. The issue with lifted is often the springs are lighter in the rear, heavier in the front and they often use long drop hitches.
