I just recently (about 2 weeks ago) bout an 04 f250 superduty supercrew Lariet FX4. When I bought it the dash lights did not work. I ignored it figuring that it was just a fuse. After 2 weeks of poking around I can not figure this out. I have read and re-read every discussion related to this problem online. Everyone seems to either have a blown fuse or some other light doesn't work either. I have no blown fuses and everything else is perfectly sound. All running lights, turn signals, interior lights, and gauge information lights work. Just no backlights on the whole dash. There are some loose wires under the dash that I believe are related to the trailer brake controller (not stock I believe) and maybe a small relay looking thing that says "Theft Lock" on it. I am a few days from tearing my hair out and taking it to the dealership and having it tore open. I have not checked the O/D wires like everyone says but I assume a fuse would blow if that was it? When I hit the tow/haul button the "ON" light does illuminate. And I have no voltage or charging problems. If anyone has any idea at all please give me your thoughts. I'm desperate to fix this annoyance by this point!!
Do you have the adjustment for the instrument illumination turned up?
Do ANY instrument illumination lights work ANYwhere (switches, etc)?
No I don't have any dash lights as far as climate control, switches, or any of the greenish colored lights. My window switches are lit up though if that helps.
I think there are only 2 bulbs back there. Has to be something specific to the dash lights if the A/c, radio, steering wheel and door control lights are working.

As listed in previous posts, I do not have climate control lights, 4x4 lights, or any dash light of any kind. Only door lights.
Yes, first thing I checked. I'm not totally inapt lol.
Clarity in communicating observations is critical. Ambiguity causes wasted time, money, and effort. BTW, it's actually spelled "inept", not "inapt". Ironic.
Pull out the main light switch and check for power at pin 6, connector C205b (brown wire) when the switch is in either the Park or Headlight position. Inspect that connector pin for damage, overheating, or corrosion.
If power is present, replace the main headlight switch. If not, troubleshoot open circuit between pin 6 and splice S216 (goes back to C206a pin 12).
FYI, the door lock switches don't go through the dimmer, they are switch on or off only.
