hey guys im new here but ive used the site plenty of time for help, but im trying to figure out how to attach power steering bracket bolts to the head where the egr port is , there is no threads there, i dont know where to go to get this part. btw this is on e6se head ,in a 1985 f250 it used to be efi , its now carbed, with a 97 explorer block, 1405 edelbrock, 289 performer intake , mallory 25 unlite , thanks
That port is the one for the air pump correct? I thought it just received a plug. I didn't think the power steering bracket when inside it also.
That's the only thing you have to be careful about with a Ford. The heads can be swapped side to side, but if you get them on the wrong side you end up with open exhaust ports in the wrong places, they should be to the rear where the air pump manifold hooked up to them.
HB - I'm not sure what all you said as I couldn't easily read it. But from what Dave said I think I figured it out. The small-block heads are drilled all the way through and the back end gets the AIR manifold and the front gets an insert that provides a 7/16" thread. And that's what your PS pump mounts to. As Dave said, you have to be careful which end goes where, but you can put one of the inserts in if you can find one. IIRC they are 5/8" threads on the outside and the 7/16 inside. Maybe a part store would have them? Or, I might be able to find a Ford # in the catalog if needed.
I missed that. Maybe it was in that post with no caps and little punctuation. Couldn't read it so was about to move to the next thread when I saw Dave's post.
I don't know about later heads. But from D8 heads through Esomethings they were drilled end-to-end.
