If you had the choise of installing a trans. temp. sender on a 1997-E40D tranny, would you install it on the cooling input side ? Or the Hot output side of the cooling lines? why would you use that side?
I was told to take the temp on the hot side.(on a AOD but that shouldn't matter). That way you now if your getting hot enough to hurt the trany juice which in turn kills the trany. Right or wrong I do not know but it made sense to me.
Patrick,
I don't know about the cool or hot side of the fluid but it has been recommended by several people to me (including a trans. tech.) to install the sender at the main line tap. The main line tap is located on the Driver's side about 4 to 6 inches in front of the MLPS (shift linkage). The tap is usually used by a tech. to check line pressure during shifts. It is a plug but has a hex head on it and is horizontal in the trans. case just above the pan. Hope this helps, R.A.
