Wayne, I don't know how long ago those transactions took place, but Alabama did change their laws over the past few years. According to the AL DMV, in addition to a BOS you now need a copy of the registration in the name of the seller.
I bought Edith out of Ga. Tennessee would not accept a Ga BOS unless it was accompanied by the registration. I didn't get a Ga title because they don't title any vehicles over ( I think) 25 yrs old. I was looking to buy another truck from Al a couple of years ago and TN told me that without the registration in the sellers name, I would not be able to get a TN title.
I have a Georgia title for my '49 so they do title them. As far as the last car I got transferred here in Alabama I've done four this year so far.

Yea, I saw it on an AL state somewhere, but can't find it now. Looking at the various counties, they all seem to have different variations. regarding the GA titles, the guy I bought Edith from had a NC title and GA refused to title it, just gave him a registration which he signed over to me. According to the GA. state site http://motor.etax.dor.ga.gov/motor/T...dAGATitle.aspx they will not issue a title to any vehicle 1962 and older.

Lol.....cool. Next time I'm at the bank I'll take a pic of my GA title if ya don't believe me. Proly typical dmv confusion but I can't argue with a physical title I have in my hand no matter what.

I'm not saying that you don't have the title, just pointing out what they say. I couldn't remember the date issue, but when I looked it up the site says 1962. New York State started issuing titles for 1973 and newer vehicles. In NY any vehicle 1972 and earlier is issued a transferable registration and not a title. It's seems that the states are all over the place when it comes to titles.

if you look carefully on the right side of the image I posted you can see the star. there's one at the start as well but these were poorly stamped so only part of the star shows at each end. Do it that way and it will look very original.

here's a pic showing them My vin is 97HC 216576. The left star actually overlaps the 9 so it is hard to sort out.

Thank you Wmrdalydvm, that certainly is difficult to see, I have my doubt first that anyone will even care to look at the serial# and second if they will even know of the stars, like I said, all they seem to care about is did I pay tax, is the transferred ownership cleared (it was) and is it safe to operate on the road. I will of course try my best to make it look like it is an original frame, it just looks like it was boxed even the rear kick up looks original until you look close or measure it.
Thank you for your help and the photo, I will take some recent photos shortly and attempt to up load them.
