Okay, this is probably the most stupid situation you guys have ever heard. So I bought a 86 302 and converted it to efi. I put a new timing cover and water pump on, a new intake and all of that stuff, get done and realize there is no dipstick. .. I know stupid. Is there anyway I can drill a hole and put one in anywhere?
If there's no dipstick, your original is probably gone. Just get another from the junkyard. Probably won't be more than 10 bucks and you can be confident it's reading correctly
Ford put the dipstick in several different locations over the years, on the side of the block, in the side of the oilpan, and in the timing cover. Where was the dipstick on the original engine? You should have used the same timing cover and oilpan as was on that motor so that you end up with the same dipstick location, all these parts are interchangable regardless what vintage motor you have.
