1949 F1 - used Radiator- what fits- 302 engine

What vehicle can I get a used radiator out of for my 1949 F1 truck?

I am installing a 1984 mercury grand marquis 302/AOD.

I could use that radiator but I would have to butcher the inner fenders..

There may be an answer but these trucks have tall narrow radiators...most ones that you will find in wrecking yards are low and wide. Do you still have the orginal radiator for the truck? If so, you may want to consider a re-core with an inlet/outlet repositioning if necessary.

Unfortunately no original radiator

Out of the 15 boxes of assorted parts they included no radiator. In the supposedly running 302 motor was frozen solid. So I'm starting over. I am preparing for a 302 swap now.

I have heard that a mid 70s Dodge truck rad will fit, but I couldn't find one to measure. I ended up with a Champion aluminum made for the truck with a SB Ford. It was around $250 shipped.

I would look into early mustang radiators, they are narrow and have side flange mounts that make them easy to mount. Low prices for new ones if you shop. They are about 19 inches wide. It will also will match up with your engine on the inlets and outlets.

Radiator

I ordered a new aluminum exact fit from www.radiatorexpress.com/.
It fit perfectly in my 1950 F1. Cost was less than $250. Good luck.

When I had a 302 in my truck, I had a 69ish Mustang radiator in mine.

I used a 1978 mustang 5.0 radiator. Fit like a glove with a few new holes drilled in the factory support.

Best fit would be an original radiator from these trucks with the straight six engine. Fits like it was made for it!

Have a 68 mustang 3 row radiator in my panel with a 289. Fits good and using the shroud too. Earlier mustang are too narrow and into the 70s they get too wide. Not that they won't work but I didn't want to cut up the rad support.

I used a 1978 mustang (king cobra) radiator and like I said it fit just fine with a few new holes drilled in the support. No cutting needed!
