Romeo 4.6 in a Windor vin Expedition?
Hi Guys,
I bought a 2000 Expedition 4.6/4WD. A couple months later it blew a head gasket. The engine code in the VIN is a 6 which means its a Windsor engine but the valve cover says its a "rep" Romeo engine. The guy i bought it from said the only engine work done on it was rebuilt heads. Is it possible that a Romeo engine made it into the truck from factory? Or maybe the heads are Romeo and block is Windsor? Not sure if they are even work together, this is my first Ford. Also, if the engine was swapped, would the computer also have to be swapped? I just trying to sort this out and cover all bases.
A couple more questions.
I found an insulator/shield under the intake that was broken into dozens of pieces. The guy at dealer said that it was needed but i got the feeling he was trying to make a sale. They want 70 bucks. I will probably get it but wanted to get your thoughts.
I pulled one of the injectors and it was missing the rubber tip. Gotta buy the whole injector if i don't find the tip in the head. Probably not a good idea to install it back in without tip huh?
This has turned into a much more expensive repair than i thought. My guess is the guy that did the head work before did a poor job. Exhaust manifolds were leaking as well because the studs were installed with nuts already on, not to mention i found a some mismatched hardware.
Thanks for any help/insight. Take care.
