e-gads, rust

finally decided to fix some of the classic rust over the rear wheel wells this evening, didnt think that it was going to be too bad, kinda thought that it would just be a tight rust type deal. but, like everything i do, it goes 20x more complex than i thought.

cleaning up on side, and theres now a pair of holes about 3/4" high by 2" long on the outer fenders. havent even touched the other side yet (i started late). the inner fenders looks like just surface rust. question is, can i just build up filler there to plug the hole, and then paint? or is it too big a hole? doesnt have to look perfect, but close enough not to really see at a fair distance?

thanks for any advice you may have! im not the best at this bodywork stuff yet, but im learing.

Put in new metal !! If you don't, it's only a matter of time until it pops out.

I agree with Aekisu, new metal is the best way. MIG it in and seal the back side with a POR-15 type product.
