Need opinions and advice. No idea of make/model/size 5th wheel we're going to buy yet, but need to get a hitch setup first. Should I get more than I need, i.e. 16K hitch or higher.
I would suggest Torklift’s SuperHitch towing line. Our hitches and towing equipment are the safest in the industry and most applications are no-drill. With a dual receiver and reinforced hitch pin locations, you can easily tow high capacities with no problem.

I looked at your website before and can find nothing that accomodates a 5th wheel trailer.. Now maybe I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box, but if you were to provide a direct link that shows the mounting system and plate that fit in the bed of a truck, you may bring your company a little more business..
All I am able to find is receiver style (aka bumper pull) hitches and weight distribution bars..
Oh my gosh, I completely misread that - I am so sorry! We don't actually have 5th wheel applications. We only offer receiver hitches rated up to 30,000lbs. For a 5th wheel hitch I would recommend checking out B&W hitches.

How big a fiver are you considering? You want something that will handle more than you are pulling, but there is no need to go crazy with this.

I tend to agree that it doesn't make sense to go crazy. But the only hitch offered by Ford goes all the way up to the rated capacity of the truck. It shouldn't hurt to have MORE than what you actually need in this case. Or am I somehow mistaken?

There is no problem with having bigger. My thought was some folks tend to think bigger is better and the hitches are already so far rated below the fail ratings a 16 K would be more than enough for a 13.5 trailer. If you only have the one choice in terms of what is offered, that is what to go with.
I installed one on my F250 and really liked what it did for me! Rating goes up to 25,000 I believe. I couldn't believe the difference between this and the old Reese I had!
