I have a 1999 F350 Super Duty with the 7.3 liter. I just recently put new ujoints in because I was having an issue with the steering. THE PROBLEM DECIDED TO COME BACK! While driving if I take say a right hand turn.. even if its just slight the wheel will jerk to the right hard.. like someone has taken the wheel and turned it.. The problem had gone away for a good year and now its back Not sure what to do now. Checked the locking hubs and they arnt binded up. so its staying in 2WD
This is what I did, lift the front end off the ground supporting the frame so that the suspension is not loaded and use a pry bar to check the front leaf spring bushings. if those are still good I'd look into your tie rod ends and every joint up to the steering box. check the ball joints as well. If you don't see play in that check for play in the steering box. Also it could be worn bushings on that diagonal bar that keeps the truck centered. Check to see if your steering stabilizer is worn as well....
If you have play pretty much anywhere it will send your steering all over the place IMHO.

But he is suffering from the "jerking wheel action" which sounds like one of the front U-joints is binding.
