Ok, I have tried to read the fob posts but could not find one that dealt with this specifically.
Lost my fob, ordered off EBay. I originally had 3 (lock, unlock and panic) and everything on my truck worked fine including my keyless pad. Now, the jack on EBay sent me 4 button fobs and at first I thought it would not matter so I programmed them and 3 days later I tried to open the door with the keyless entry pad but it failed to work.
My question: Is the 4 button fob messing up my ****? I tried various procedures and I can never get my "pad" to work. I personally think the 4th channel on the fob has blocked the pad but it is directly wired so again I don't think this is possible.
I think the fourth button is for factory remote start. I don't know anything about how it works with the truck though, so I don't know if that is causing your keypad problem or if it's just a coincidence. I think if you start the car remotely, you can still use the keypad while it's running, so I don't think that if you programmef the FOB accidently for a remote start that it would screw anything up.
Hey seville009, actually the 4th button on the key fob is for the "trunk" or at least that is what is pictured. The fob I originally had only had "lock", "unlock" and "panic". The one that was sent to me has all of the above PLUS "trunk". The doors lock and unlock with the remote key fob but has somehow rendered my "Keyless entry pad" on the outside of the drivers door INOP. I have tried the original number (had to dig under the dash) and I have tried some of the 'tips and tricks" from a couple of other members as I thought perhaps the keyless entry module may have been "disabled". But nothing seems to fix it...
Ok, so I wanted to update this thread and let everyone know what I found out. FIRST of all, the "Keyless Door Entry Keypad" on my truck (some are hard wired and some are battery operated) is/was battery operated. I found instructions online explaining how to change battery but when I attempted to disassemble said unit it tore the plastic cover and basically is a piece of ****!
I have looked online for a "Ford" replacement but I am NOT paying 100+ for that dumb thing, if I forget my keys I will go back in and get them. That keyless entry is basically for when your outside and just want to get in the vehicle for something (like a fob). If one comes available at a reasonable price I may buy it but until then... I have my keys and the new fobs.
So, there is the update and if you didn't understand the "pad" is wireless with a battery and it communicates with the KES under the dash just like the fobs. Just another way to gain entry but battery operated which I think is BS.. it should have been direct wired, they are rated for 10 yrs (battery) and that is right on with my truck as it is a 2004. Go figure huh.
