Back in town

Hey all, name's Matt. Just got home after eight years in the Navy and man is it good to be home again. Looking forwards to meeting some of y'all when the opportunities arise!

Nothing fancy in the garage, just an '01 Excursion 7.3 and a '71 Chevelle...

If y'all see me around, feel free to toss a wave or say hi

I love the old PBY. They flew that sucker in when they brought it to the base. They were flying in all the old propjobs and jets that the various squadrons used to fly. Found it amusing the paint schemes at the time matched between the plane and the car, lol.

Hey Matt, good to meet u yesterday. I checked my tires. They're about 63 to 65 psi. I just recently had the rear axle replaced. I also measured it from front lower ball joint on each side to back of axle and it's equal distance. Tat wear could have happened before my rear axle went out. Pretty much everything on my original rear axle was shot. Even the hubs and brake calipers and stuff. No more wheel bearings and the axle spline on left side split in 2.

Oh I forgot to ask u for ur contact info. Pm me ur info when u get the chance or here's my cell. 832-715-0693. I'm also on Facebook. Look up "Dominic Khoo" and you've got me.

Thanks,

Dom

Right on man. Pressures seem a little high for driving empty, especially with the DRW setup - disperses the weight more evenly. Towing a load I could definitely see 63-65, but empty it seems a bit excessive. Those center tread lugs on the back have no more siping on them compared to the fronts. Would hate to see you wear out four tires prematurely, ya know?

Personally I like to use the chalk-line to get optimal pressure. Air the tires to the max, draw a line across the tread with chalk. Drive a little bit then check the line. Initially it should be wearing off in the center due to over inflation. Keep dropping the pressure in small increments and redrawing the chalk line until it wears off evenly, and that's your ideal pressure for each corner individually.

Thank u sir. I dropped the air pressure. 60 in front, 55 in rear. A lot better. I also noticed the tires in the rear are evening out a little better.

Thanks!

Dom
