I flushed my PS and filled with trans fluid and got it a little too full...it overflowed. I siphoned some out that I thought would do the trick but now after driving any length of time PS will overflow. It has overflowed 3 times not a lot but enough to create a small medium size slick.
Purely because I overfilled and it is still too high of level?
Trans fluid should have a lower level in reservoir than PS fluid?
Any constructive ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.
Raise both wheels off the ground, fire the truck up and turn the steering wheel dock to dock about 20 times. Then see whats on the stick. That should purge any air.
No. I did splice in an additional length of hose to try and increase the volume of fluid and get it a little cooler. I used pressure hose and a brass male to male fittting
As far as cooling goes, the 73-79 came with an extra length of return line that fit on the inner fender. I have also seen little rad. looking cooling boxes at the pump. Don't see it discussed a lot, not sure how much help is needed with cooling the fluid or how hot it gets. Speaking from over the years of driving different power steering vehicles as long as there is fluid in the reservoir and not coming out of the fill spout I wouldn't be overly concerned about it.
Has it mellowed out yet or is it still burping out?
It's not burping out now. Engine off and hot stick reads fluid just on the tip nothing higher up than where the angles are on the end.
Weird thing is after I drained the PS fluid I added some Lucas stop leak as an additive, started it up to circulate and it ran with no whine from the pump. Added the fluid was to top it off, before the overfill, then the pump was whining.

Air in the system can cause a whine. Also can cause fluid not moving smoothly.
