Questions about Expeditions
I'm thinking about getting a '97 to 2000 XLT. My goal is to have a vehicle that can tow a 5000 lb travel trailer occasionally and have the ability to haul people as well. I don't have a boat and won't be driving up ramps or in any conditions that 4WD would be needed, so I want 2WD.
I want a combo that will get the best gas mileage when not towing--
so one question is-- what engine/axle combo will give me better level ground mileage at 55-60 mph, a 4.6 with 3.73 or a 5.4 with 3.31?
Do the Expeds have the same plastic intake problems during these years that the Panthers do?
I'm guessing there might be a little more room to get to the rear plugs on a 4.6 than on a 5.4. Is that right?
I'm curious about the price differences between Expeds and F-150's. I dunno if they sold new for about the same price, but at least on Craigslist the asking prices for F-150's seem to be running at least 60% higher than for Expeds from '97 to 2000 in this part of California.
Thanks in advance,
Ray Mac
