Probably not the answer you want to hear - but is there anyway you can swing gettng a 5.4 truck instead of the 4.6?

They're so much better for towing, you could end up spending a fair amount of money just to get that 4.6 to tow like a 5.4.

Plus, when dealing with a 4x4 - I don't think there's too much difference between a 4.6 and a 5.4 in gas mileage. I average roughly 16 mpg with my 5.4.

Talking thanks big ol

i wanted a 5.4 but couldnt find a comparable truck with one for the same kind of deal..towing isnt the issue the 4.6 should do fine(my dad has an expy with a 4.6 with 160000 miles so far and does great STILL towing the same type loads i will pull)...just want a little more...i just love to show off that FORD POWER..lol

I'd check to make sure the F-150 Screw you're looking at has the 3.73 gears. This is most likely what your father is running in his Expy, which the acceleration and towing difference between the 3.55 and 3.73 is very noticable.

Some not so expensive things to upgrade the 4.6L, FIPK, Cat-Back Exhaust, E-Fans and a Programmer.

Good luck with the new truck!
