Trans additive?
No additives are necessary for a 4R70W tranny when using Mercon V. In the factory towing package, you should also already have a tranny cooler installed. Mercon V and the cooler are key elements for preventing problems.
Ford has no specific recommendation for tranny additives. Adding DuraLube or Lucas Tranny additives, IMO, is a waste of money for a 4R70W that is working as expected.

If you look at the dipstick handle of a 4R70W, it will say to use Mercon. However, Mercon V was introduced in 1998 and is an upgrade.
