Next to the lamp switch there is a rocker switch hold up on it till it gets to the right spot and it will stay there from then on.
Ps the switch is kinda funky the first time you use it !
There's also a setting on the Sync/MFT screen to allow auto-dimming. I've never messed with mine to know if it may be what you're looking for though. I don't know what trim you have.
I would have to mess around with it for a bit to find where it was located again, but it was under the settings tab on the MFT display in a sub-menu. It is just an "on/off" option for auto-dimming. I don't know if it is just for navigation, or for the entire head unit, whether the dash lighting is included or not, etc. I left mine as it came from the factory and the dash and head unit are plenty bright for my tastes after dark, so I never played with it. Hope you can figure it out quickly and easily.
Even if I manually switch it from lights off to lights on it does it so I dunno wtf guess il have to live with it
Well yeah if you manually switch the lights that will happen, but I thought you meant you had an issue with the automatic dimming of the dash lighting, basically the truck doing that without your explicit command to do so.
I know what you mean. I had driven a rental Super Duty truck of the same year which had the automatic headlamp feature. Mine doesn't have this feature, so the interior and exterior lights never switch modes on their own without me specifically adjusting them.
I have an issue with this behaviour too in GM trucks, which for some ridiculous reason come with auto lights at all trim levels - even WT. I'll stop before I start ranting about other automatic things like transmissions.
Raptor, Seabee (Doug) is telling the truth !
I forgot to mention the MFT part cause my truck doesn't have it.
but I just figured this out on my wife's 14 Escape, with MFT.
And yes it is under the settings for auto dimming lights.
You will have better luck setting it when it is dark out though.
I took a minute when I got home from work this morning to mess with it. Go to the "settings" screen, then select "display". The pic below is what you should be looking at after that selection. I haven't messed with the adjustments, but hopefully that gives you what you are looking for.
