cooling question

I have a cooling question.I finally got the wife's 01 expo heater core all buttoned up.I refilled violent and let run 5-10 mins without the cap on,and topped it off as needed.the violent finally levels off,no more air bubbles coming up and I put cap on.2 mins later I see coolant is starting to bubble out of the cap on the ground.what did I do and how do I stop this?were working off two cars total and its getting old, very fast.thanks all

That could've been the thermostat opening for the first time. I never top off the coolant until after the t-stat has opened and the coolant is fully circulating. After it settles down fill it to the full line and you should be good to go.
