Did some searching on here last night and got together a whole list of x gauges and there codes to use. Thanks for mentioning that I didn't know. Gonna put those in today.
I had forgotten about the Blue spring upgrade as well. Gonna get that ordered up today as well.
I'll report back with some numbers from the scangauge.
I can know answer your question. Its Yes I did. It cranked over nice a smooth. Does this tell me the injectors are working fine?
No, only that your should have even compression across all cylinders and your valve train is working properly. It does not test the injectors at all, as the key is off when your doing the crank test.
Do you have Autoenginuty to do a power balance test?
I have a similar problem with my Excursion (along with a much bigger one) but today I just noticed that if I put it in tow/haul mode the "shuttering" goes away. BTW, my Ex only shutters at a steady cruising speed and only after reaching a certain ECT, never during acceleration or deceleration and now never in tow/haul mode. I wonder if the TOW/HAUL turns off the EGR valve?
Let me give you guys an update on my progress. Since I'm a believer that a thread should always be followed thru in case someone in the future searches and finds this they aren't left hanging.
I bought the blue spring upgrade last week (I haven't had a chance to put it in yet tho).
This past weekend I did a bunch of searching on here and believe my problem still lies in the injectors... stiction specific.
Anyways I came across the archoil 9100 and read up on it. After learning more about how important the oil is for them I figured I'd give this a try.
Last night I dumped 16 ozs in and let it idle for 30 min's. A few times I would rev it up.
Today I needed to use it so it was my first ride.
Now I've had the truck for two years and you could NEVER from a dead stop floor it without bogging down. For the first couple of miles it went well, felt better.
It doesn't accelerate like my vette ... but holy cow I didn't know the truck could accelerate like this!... this is like driving a new truck! Even when I was pulling the trailer today it had good power. Very happy with this Archoil 9100 and would recommend it. Even the shutter/bucking is gone for now.
Very much looking forward to putting in the blue spring.
Thats great news. I think for a permanent fix you could tear down your injectors polish the spool valves and be set. There is a real good thread on here about that.
