Throttle Position sensor

Ok all I need some help.
I am getting a 23 error code both KOEO and KOER, Also it has a hesitation or sputter when accelerating,
Normally I would say TP sensor but I have put 3 new ones on it in 2 days, (warranty is nice) and the problem is the same. What am I missing???

Have you used a meter to measure the TPS output?

For reference:Throttle Position Sensor TPS

More than likely a wiring problem.
The TP wires voltage is not with in the ball park range during the electrical test.

Voltage in is 5 volts. The signal wire gains and looses voltage like it should but there is a dead spot about 1/2 throttle. Every sensor checks out exactly the same with the dead spot in the same position. I can't see everyone of them being faulty in the same spot??

5 volts on which wire? What are you using as a reference for the negative lead of your meter?

The TP wire I spoke of above is only one wire and the computer is looking for a voltage between about .8v - 1.5V. If it does not get this at closed throttle during KOEO test it will put up the 23 code. But I like to see the voltage between 0.9V & 1.0 VDC.

Use the SIG GND wire at the TPS plug to check the TP wire.

Ok, just tested again, using sig rtn as ground, I have 5.07 volts at the ref wire and .702 volts at the tp wire.
when I work the throttle voltage rises smoothly untill 3.1 volts then the circuit goes open, but comes back at 3.3 volts and goes smoothly up.

Sounds like someone has played with the screw on the throttle body.
Also the circuit should never go open going up the scale so sound like a bad TPS also.

No, leave the throttle stop screw as-is.

The "flat spot" you are referring to may be caused by your meter being set to auto-ranging. What kind of meter are you using and/or what setting are you using when you measure the TPS output signal?

Is it set to automatically determine what range to display? The "dead-spot" you are measuring may be due to the meter momentarily resetting what the voltage scale should be. This is a warning to the technician in the Ford service manual.

After 4 TPS sensors I would suspect the problem is technician induced, not bad parts.

OK quick update.

I loosened the TP screws a little and re tightened while putting up pressure on the sensor, I got the voltage to increase to .817, ran codes and 23 is not active any more. still haven't drove it more than around the block so not sure on the hesitation but hey baby steps.

Thanks for the help guys
