AC will not take freon

f**d a/c systems are a major PITA.

spent a bunch of money on the one in old green a couple years ago (had already redone it when the truck was first purchased), and it has now developed a leak again....

gonna bite the bullet and just take it to a local shop this time.

I actually kind of thought the way you said it was like if it is completely empty I'll have to do is add to it. I don't know a whole lot about AC systems, but if it's completely empty you're probably wasting your money filling it again without sealing up the leak.

4 year old post so you kinda wasted your typing on it. But even if a system is empty it doesn't always indicate a large leak. If it went empty over a long span of time a re-fill may make it work for a few years without any other repairs.

And whoever said the system needs to be charged to be able to make a vacuum to be able to pull in the freon is wrong.
