Question 6.5ft to 8ft box?

I bought an 02 f150 with a 5.4 with a 6.5ft box. It has been rear ended and the frame rails are bent behind the rear axle. I was wondering if I could cut off the bad and extend the frame to fit an 8ft box. I have an experienced welder that can weld on frames, just wanted to know if it was possible.

The frame difference between the two is between the axles, you'd need to extend the frame, fuel/brake lines and harnesses right behind the cab.

Thank you galaxie. That makes a lot more sense, not really worth it for me then though
