You would think that if you sold Nissan trucks for a living, you might not want to show your customers what a REAL truck looks like. Our local dealer may be confused.
I don't think this matters. I'd much rather them use a Superduty than use a Titan that is grossly overloaded. That trailer could weight north of 10k and that's too much for a half ton.
That is funny!
A 2014 Titan might be able to tow that but without knowing the weight of trailer maybe not.I would guess 9-10k.I think the new titans can pull north of 9k w 1 ton payload.Idk what the gvwr is.
I actually hate what the diesel tuner crowd has done to diesels. You can thank them for the incredible emissions testing for diesels that are starting up around the country.
I hate how they drive their lifted and tuned diesel trucks around Vegas, terrorizing people on the highway and attempting to intimidate others with their truck. They ruin the image of diesel truck owners out here.
As for Nissan, the 5.6L V8 and Toyota's 5.7L V8 set the stage for the engines we have now. I applaud those trucks. I also look forward to the new 5.0L diesel that Nissan an Toyota are getting from Cummins. This is really gonna turn the heat up in the half ton market.
Several of the dealers (imports) around here have SD's for plowing snow. I think it is always a testimony of how the mini's are purpose built for the weekend garden guy or commuter.

| the Ram V6 diesel is out now, 28mpg highway, tow 9250 lbs.
will be interested to see what a 5.0diesel will be compared to this V6.
doesn't apply to most of us with big haul/tow loads, but interesting technology battle.
Ram is actually using a Fiat V6 Diesel in the 1500's. Several forums are buzzing about it. The Cummins purists are hating on it, whereas the people that want mileage and a light duty truck all give it good reviews (the engine - not so much the truck). They're mad that Fiat Group put their engines in Ram light duty trucks instead of using the smaller Cummins, and even more mad that Toyotas and Nissans may end up on their forum (this particular one is a Cummins forum.)

No problem. I really wasn't trying to be one of "those" guys, but I agreed with the rest of your comment. I too am curious about the 5.0 Cummins. I still won't be compelled to buy a Toyota or Nissan, but competition makes us better.

no issue.. I like to be correct, not spread false info..
I noticed that the ram diesel marketing said Doc/DEF/SCR.. and we know we still have a few lifecycle issues with water and cross contamination. As the population of vehicles with these kinds of systems goes up, the demand for better reliability and stability will go up too.
had my SIL take my dually to Chicago (from austin) to move their apartment back. gone for 3 weeks, never driven a diesel before.
and they decided to do a non-stop drive back. gas in the diesel was my biggest concern.. but all turned out ok.. but I shouldn't have to worry about this..
Most trucks can pull all most anything. Pulling is not the problem. Stopping a heavy load is the problem. I have had many of heavy trailers push me down the road because the trailer connection either came unplug or did make a good connection. Makes for a white knuckle experience when someone pulls in front of you and hit their brakes.
I am happy to see the competition. My brother just bought the new Ram 3.0L diesel and he is seeing impressive mileage 25-39 on the highway. Towing his 13 Mustang on a car hauler is sitting around 19 in South Texas (not the hills like many of us live in).
The diesel is 240 hp though...so its not gonna win any races, but many of the folks who want a truck don't really care. The 420 lb ft of torque is what they are buying.
I want to see how the Cummins performs. I like the Superduty for towing and its towing manners are excellent.....but there may be a day where I don't need all of those towing manners in a truck and I'd love to buy a mini Cummins that gets almost double the fuel economy of the Superduty.
Who wouldn't want to double their mileage? It makes for a compelling argument to look. I wouldn't mind a Toyota at all...but I'd want the 6.5 ft bed with the Crewmax. They don't sell that so its a non-starter for me. We will see how the new Nissan truck looks.
